Today we have a beauty tip our friend Krysten, co-owner of Toronto boutiques Coal Miner's Daughter, brought back for us from her recent trip to Hawaii. Straight from the shores of Maui, Krysten picked up this trick from a local. We're so into it because it's easy and effective – and it's fun too.
Make a body scrub with coffee grounds! If you make coffee in the morning, just grab a handful and jump in the shower. Smooth all over your body, and rinse. You can also add an oil - coconut, jojoba or avocado work well, and you can even put in some raw sugar too. Mix together with your hands in a bowl (careful with glass) and slather on in the shower as well.
Coffee is invigorating, and the exfoliation helps to get rid of dead skin cells, meaning moisturising oils will work better and keep skin softer and smoother for longer. Some say that coffee scrubs are fantastic for reducing cellulite too. There's also the aromatherapy benefit of showering with that beautiful scent of a good cup of joe.
So get to it - grab your grounds and get beach-ready skin!
A final note: We do have to let you know this scrub can get a bit messy so beware. As well, keep your scrub to body only and off the face; the grounds are just a little to harsh for delicate facial skin.
