This tip is one of the simplest, and includes something you might already have at the ready.
We grew up in a house with what seemed to be an unlimited supply of facecloths. That was, until it was laundry day and trying to find a fresh one in a house of four girls was a lesson in diplomacy. A shout from the bathroom of, "Mom, there are no facecloths!" would be met with "Just use the corner of a towel!". (Which in a pinch does just as well and is better than just splashing water). Why use a facecloth? Because a simple, basic facecloth offers a host of benefits, not the least of which is removing all traces of cleanser. It also has a circulation-stimulation effect, offers gentle exfoliation, and makes the face feel nice and clean.
How to use a facecloth is simple: Apply your cleanser, wet your facecloth and wipe gently, don't pull too hard on your skin, or rub too much, just wet, wipe, rinse, repeat. Then hang your cloth up to dry, and toss in in the wash after a use or two.
There's nothing quite like the routine of grabbing a fresh fluffy facecloth from the linen closet and getting about your face washing routine before bed. We love the luxury of linen ones now (they make us feel a bit fancy), but the cheap terry ones from the department store are a stackable staple – especially when they get a bit rough. And when laundry day has been pushed to tomorrow (again), we'll admit, we just grab the corner of a towel.
