We have an idea!
The way you see yourself is important. The reflection in the mirror tells you what's going on with you on the outside, and impacts how you feel about yourself. That's why it's important to look at yourself in a good light. Literally.
Often we hear that makeup is best applied by natural light, a window or something, but we apply our makeup quickly and where we stash it - in the bathroom (we know, we know). So having a decent and consistent light that gives a good, flattering look at ourselves helps a bunch.
Lighting should be even and clear. Not too bright, and not yellow. You should be able to see yourself clearly without shadows. If the light is too yellow the makeup colours look different, and so does your skintone. If it's glaringly bright, you may tend to be a heavy-handed with application, as you're overcompensating for thinking your skin is worse than it is, because you can see every line, spot and shadow. Think of it this way, good light = a lighter hand.
Seeing yourself in a whole new light could be as easy as changing a lightbulb.
